In the course, students are introduced to the relational model, session normalization, integrity constraints, logical and physical database schema, conceptual schema, as well as database model design methodology, E-R diagrams and data flow diagrams.

The aim of the course is to introduce students to database systems based on the relational database model and the Structured Query Language (SQL). Database design and work with databases are practically demonstrated in the GNU/Linux operating system environment using the PostgreSQL relational database.
