Synopsis:

The purpose of this course is to learn basic principles and general arrangement and structural detailing of multi-storey buildings and single-storey buildings. Brief information about structural analysis, load, design codes and structural stability is also given. The course gives some examples of large span, tall and industrial buildings.

Multi-storey buildings: floor and roof systems,

Columns, bracing systems, connections, structural detailing.

Single-storey structures: cladding, purlins,

Trusses, frames, columns, column bases, anchoring

Crane girders, bracing systems.

Structural analysis, load, design codes, structural stability.

Large span buildings

Tall buildings.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Design of multi-storey building, load evaluation, design of composite beams, steel columns, bracing, design of connections, structural drawings

Design of single storey industrial building, evaluation of load, design of purlins, truss, column and bracing, structural detailing.

Study Objective:

To gain knowledge about design of steel structures and structural systems, typical member and connections design procedures.
