Synopsis:

Doctoral students will acquire basic didactic procedures for setting up teaching and conducting their own seminars, exercises with regard to teaching at a technical university. For students of the doctoral study program, the course will contribute to the acquisition of knowledge and skills developing their didactic and professional skills towards more active methods of their teaching practice (compared to the traditional lecture / discussion model). The interdisciplinary environment of the course leads students to look at professional and pedagogical problems from different points of view, from professional to didactic to psychological and moral aspects of the teaching profession.

Attention is paid to pedagogical and psychological methods of learning and evaluating the student's personality, psychology of learning, mental hygiene, psychological analysis of thinking and motivation to learn and personal development. Students will learn the principles of formative assessment and providing feedback. They will learn about methods of preventing and managing conflict situations in the group and in communication.

The part of the course itself is the area of pedagogical communication, working with scientific information and publishing.

Attention is also paid to the area of the most common didactic mistakes in teaching by beginning university teachers and the possibilities of how to avoid them.

Requirements:

Seminar paper and its presentation - of such scientific quality that the text can be the basis for a scientific article.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Concept and approaches to the teaching profession, work with one's inner setting as a teacher and student.

2. Types of thinking and learning (cultivation of the ability to teach oneself / teach others, Fast and slow thinking).

The inspiration that comes from this is for working with people.

3. Creating a safe learning environment. What types of tasks lead to 21st-century skills?

Working with a group - setting cooperation, setting goals, and standards. Group dynamics, working with a group.

4. Work with methods of education and development I.

A portfolio of educational methods - examples, possibilities, and limits of use.

5. Scientific work.

6. Scientific publishing.

7. Work with methods of education and development II. Examples of methods, and issues of various educational needs – gifted students, concentration disorders, and procrastination.

8. Workshop. How to plan your lessons (didactic cycle)

Discussion of students' plans.

9. Image information processing, and presentation systems.

10. Post-processing.

11. Copyright.

12. Structured, formative assessment, feedback. Prevention and resolution of conflict situations in communication and teaching.

13. Self-reflection and professional psycho-hygiene

Stress, burnout and psycho-hygiene in the context of the teaching profession. Tools to prevent the problem. Prevention in an active way. Sources and causes of congestion.

Study Objective:

To acquire knowledge of the basic didactic procedures in determining to teach and conducting seminars and exercises with regard to teaching at a technical college.

To learn the principles of formative assessment and providing feedback.
