Synopsis:

Principles of the structure, function and use of particular types of prosthetic and orthotic tools, their application in individual types of involvements. Indications and contraindications of prosthetic tools, care for patients after amputations.

Practical exercises: visit at prosthetic department, examples of the manufacture of prostheses and ortheses, measurements of patients, instruction and training for the use of prosthetic tools.

Syllabus of lectures:

Lectures

1st week Introduction to the history of the branch

2nd week Anatomy, amputation scheme

3rd week Prothetrometry, taking of gypsum negatives

4th - 6th weeks Proximal extremity and distal extremity prostheses

7th week Limb prostheses, orthoprostheses, trunk ortheses

8th week Technology of manufacturing prostheses and ortheses

9th week Adjuvatics

10th week Wheelchairs. Lifting devices

1st - 4th weeks Diseases of amputation stumps

5th - 6th weeks Prostheses of the distal limb - structure and types

7th - 8th weeks Myoprostheses of the proximal limb, examination and training the induction of myopotentials

9th - 10th weeks Acquainting with a working site for the manufacture of prosthetic tools
