The course introduces students to basic ethical issues in applied ethics due to a future career orientation. It develops students' ability to think in ethical contexts, discuss, argue and defend their views in ethical dilemma situations which brings medical environment.

1st Ethics as a philosophical discipline. Basic terminology of ethics. The concept lege artis
2nd Past and Present of applied ethics (bioethics, medical ethics).
3th Legal standards (international and national). Bioethics Convention. Ethical codes. The relationship between ethics and law.
4th Patients' rights and their role in the humanization of medicine.
5th Informed consent. Privacy Policy, breaking the silence. Retention of conscience.
6th Ethical issues in geriatrics, palliative care, disability or helplessness. Quality of life and human dignity
7th Euthanasia and assisted suicide
8th The issue of abortion
9th assisted reproduction
10th Genotechnologie-cloning, stem cells, embryonic research, the issue of genetic testing
11th Ethical issues of organ transplantation
12th Research in medicine and its regulation
13th Ethical problems of introducing new technologies - artificial organs
14th Ethical issues associated with alternative medicine, advertising and allocation of resources for health

The goal of the course is to raise ethical awareness and to give necessary knowledge and skills. Students will learn to understand ethical dilemmas and to come to sound decisions in their practice.
