Introduction to modern physics. Electromagnetic waves. Diffraction. Interference. Interaction of photons with matter. Sources and detectors of optical radiation. Modern optolelectronic elements (deformable mirrors, active tunable-focus lenses, LC spatial light modulators etc.). Lasers. Applications of lasers.
