Describing and analysing design problems in different vehicle body types - requirements, materials, legislation and style.

Knowledge of mechanics of materials and theory of elasticity and plasticity.

Structure of the car body, materials - steel, aluminium. Basic sub-systems in a car body. Corrosion, protection measures. Bending and torsion of car bodies. Force distribution strategy. Connections between basic parts. Legislation and project of a car body. Dynamics of car bodies. Aerodynamics. Deformation parts and design for safety. Examples of personal cars, trucks, and buses design.
