Calculation of running stability of a railway vehicle. Optimization of damping and suspension of the vehicle. Calculation of stable areas of lateral oscillation.
Construction of mathematical models of railway vehicles with multiple degrees of freedom excited by unevenness of the track of harmonic run.
Non-linear parts of suspension and damping.
Calculation of force-feedbacks and acceleration, on the bogie and the body of the vehicle, according to harmonic excitation.
Random process theory considering the random excitation of railway vehicles. Calculation of correlation functions, cross-correlation functions and power spectral density.
Construction of mathematical models of railway vehicles in 3D. Calculation of feedbacks of 3D models on random excitation.
Mass-continuum oscillation. Bending oscillation of the body of the vehicle.

- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1) Construction of the equation of motion of the railway vehicles spatial arrangement. Calculation of the stiffness and damping of single spring and dampening element.
2) Calculation of the natural frequencies size of the basic shapes of railway vehicle spatial oscillations. Solution of the railway vehicle response to random stimulation from the track unevenness.
3) Stability of the movement of the railway vehicle - definition of stability, stability criterions, concept of the critical speed. The methods for the calculation of the railway vehicle critical speeds.
4) Stability of the movement of the own wheelset and of the undercarriage with firmly run wheelset. The effect of the elastically run wheelset in the undercarriage frame on the critical speed size.
5) The effect of the binding between undercarriage and car body on the stability of the movement. The calculation of the longitudal oscillations of the car body.
6) Calculation of the torsional oscillations of the car body. Calculation of the flexural oscillations of the car body. Approximate methods for the calculation of natural frequencies of the flexural oscillations of car body.
7) Testing challenges, the position of the testing in the process of the vehicle development. Legislative, standards, regulations. The types of test stands and the extent of their authorization.
8) Railway vehicle testing. Diversification of the testing procedures. Technical equipment of the test stands and measurement cars.
9) Specific measuring devices. Detectors, measurement chain?s components, measurement chains. Data processing and evaluation methods.
10) The means for detection of the reciprocal force effects between the vehicle and the track. The driving tests for dynamic properties evaluation, and comfort of the run assessment.
11) The strength tests - static, fatigue, shock, and driving. Tests of the operational properties of the vehicles - outline verification, junction verification, safety against derail verification, and ability of the longitudal compressive force transmition verification.
12) The break system tests - standing-break test and driving-break test. Tractive tests, thermotechnic tests. Rolling resistance determination. Noise measurements.
13) Preparation, organization, and planning of the tests. Driving tests policies. Preparation of the testing methodologies. Process of the railway vehicles approval.
