The subject clarifies the design and basic calculations of aggregates of mechanical powertrains of passenger cars, trucks and motorcycles.

1 - gearbox construction and arrangement of the powertrain
2 - Start-up clutches
3 - Shift mechanism
4 - Basic function, description of design and manufacturing of gear wheels, types of gears.
5 - Relative movement, gear mesh, conditions of correct mesh, planar and spatial gears, practical applications.
6 - Generation of spur gear, description of involute surface.
7 - Basic equations of involute profile and their application. Interference.
8 - Gear mesh. Control parameters.
9 - Gear slip. Forces in gear mesh, types of damage. Calculation of teeth performance limirs.
10 - Hypoid gear, arrangement, basic rules for design and application.
11 - Joint shafts; automation of mechanical gear boxes.
12 - Service life, bearing calculation, Gearbox testing and test stands.
