- Synopsis:
-
Designing roofs and waterproofing protection of the substructure of buildings.
- Requirements:
-
None
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
Underground parts of buildings - 1 lecture, flat roofs - 2 lectures, pitched roofs - 2 lectures. In each chapter:
- stress analysis of buildings and structures,
- summary of structural and material solutions,
- designing compositions of constructions,
- principles of solving structural details.
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
Substructure:
Overview of building protection systems against water. Application of knowledge from teaching PS 1, 2 and 4 for the appropriate choice of pit lining, basement construction and building protection system against water according to pressure water stress and according to the construction site. Composition of the basement structure, including auxiliary layers and pit lining, layer dimensions, tolerances. Dimensions of construction interventions in the basement area (bracketing, anchors, excavation, drilling, grouting....). Building rights, relationship to neighboring land, influence on the location and shape of the building.
Roofs with coating waterproofing:
Flat roof solutions for different uses and different parameters of the internal environment - single-skin classic composition. Choice of layers and materials according to the use of the roof. Drainage solution. Solution of structural details affecting the appearance of the building and the use of the roof (eaves edge, edge of the roof with railing, access to the roof from the interior, containers for high greenery, interfaces of areas with different uses).
Plumbing construction:
Types of sheet metal, usual thicknesses, usual profiles according to use, fixing, expansion solutions.
Pitched roofs with tiles :
The principles of roof structures for the creation of free attic space, including a massive sloping slab. A composition with thermal insulation under and between the rafters, a composition with thermal insulation above the rafters or above a massive sloping slab. Roof ventilation, protection of wooden elements. Solution of structural details affecting the appearance of the building (edge at the eaves and connection to the facade, ridge and corner). Lighting elements for pitched roofs.
- Study Objective:
-
Knowledge of the basic principles of protecting the underground structure against water in relation to the requirements, the method of foundation and construction of the basement, the solution of the construction pit and the insulation of the basement. Knowledge of the influence of the basement structure, the excavation of the construction pit and the construction progress on the location and shape of the building with regard to the right to build on adjacent land.
Knowledge of designing basic types of flat and pitched roofs with various uses - composition and details.
