Synopsis:

This course is focused on unit operations that might occur in heterogeneous mixed systems. It describes these operations and equipment design of the most common equipments such as agitated vessels, static mixers, in-line mixers, columns and fluidization equipments. The course enlarges knowledge obtained in the basic course of the study branch "Process engineering? or creates the basis for students studying various specializations. The study plan will be tailored by the choice from the following general offer to meet the requirements of the dissertation topic.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Unit operation categories executed in heterogeneous mixed systems.

2. Basic parameters of the heterogeneous system s-l, l-l and g-l.

3. Hydrodynamics, rheology, turbulence, shear stress, residence time distribution,

micro-mixing.

4. Suspension types and its behavior, homogenization, impeller power input, energy

dissipation, particle suspension, re-suspension, dispersion, suspension

stabilization, mass and heat transfer, chemical reactions in systems s-l. Equipments

types.

5. Emulsions types and its behavior, phase equilibrium, homogenization, impeller power

input, energy dissipation, dispersion and emulsification, emulsion stabilization,

mass and heat transfer, chemical reactions in the immiscible l-l systems. Equipment

types.

6. Aerated systems and equipment types, homogenization, impeller power input, energy

dissipation, gas aeration in liquid, gas void-up, impeller and column flooding, mass

and heat transfer, chemical reactions in systems g-l. Equipment types.

7. Geometrical equipment design, rating, vibration, materials, reliability, maintenance
