Division of mechanical processes, classification of powders. Structure and properties of particulate matter. Characterisation of classification processes - frequency and cumulative distribution curves, total and fractional mass balance, grade efficiency curve, cut sizes, sharpness of cut. Theory of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic classification of powders. Classifiers. Expression of particle size distributions of powders. Characteristics of particle size distribution, conversion. Principles of methods of particle size measurement.
