Department of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics
Synopsis:

The main aim of the course Internal High-Speed Aerodynamics is to prepare higly skilled specialists for investigations in which compressible fluid flow has an important role. The course deals with special problems of compressible fluid flow and covers special phenomena occuring in fluid flows.

Requirements:

The course participants are also expected to work outside the classes : individual study, solution of tasks, transactions written reports and presentations.

Syllabus of lectures:

Thermophysical properties of gases and vapours. Gas flows and phenomena in compressible fluid flow. Transonic flows. Aerodynamic choking. Shock waves in transonic and supersonic flow field. Flow of gases past channels. Flow separation. Transonic instability. Two-dimensional flow of compressible fluids. Propagation of continuous disturbances. Outflow gases and vapours. Vortex structures in flow fields. Flow past trailing edges. Flow of gases and vapours past blade cascades. Data reduction method. Modelling and similarity in compressible fluid flow.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Numerical solutions of compressible fluid flows in channels. Measurements of compressible fluid flows. Visualisation of compressible fluid flow. Other topics according to possibilities in laboratories and at computers.
