Synopsis:

Stress and deformation in solids (elasticity and plasticity, internal defects). Stress tensor, strain tensor, modulus of elasticity of isotropic and anisotropic systems. Specific strength of materials. Methods of fractographic analysis. Structural and external factors of the fracture process, morphology of fracture surfaces. A modification of Griffith's brittle failure energy criterion. Phenomology of transit behavior, transit temperature criteria. Pellinni (FAD) failure analysis diagram, its application in nuclear power. Material parameters of fracture resistance assessment according to Irwin and Rice, methodology of their testing. Diagnostics of the operational safety of machinery and structures when assessing the permissible size of defects. Application of fracture mechanics in the fatigue and creep process. Corrosion embrittlement and radiation embrittlement. A revision of the GE two-criteria approach for plastic collapse and strain hardening.
