Synopsis:

The course presents an overview of the areas of biotechnology and their use in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering with regard to the development of new tissue replacements and implants. The course takes into account other areas such as the use of biomaterials, nanotechnology, which serves as a building material for the development of implantable carriers. These areas are then further developed in other specialized subjects.

Requirements:

As a standard, teaching takes place in contact form and the course ends with an oral exam, which is preceded by written preparation. If the number of students is less than 5, teaching can take place in the form of guided self-study with regular consultations. Furthermore, it is required to prepare a written study by the student on a given topic in the field. The condition for admission to the exam is the completion of two laboratory exercises (evidenced by a protocol signed by the student, the head of the exercise and the guarantor of the course). Protocols will be archived.

Syllabus of lectures:

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and its milestones

2. Biomaterials and their use for medicine, use of nanotechnotology

3. Biocompatibility of tissue carriers and their modification to reduce cytotoxicity and increase proliferation

4. Acquisition of tissues and cells, tissue banks

5. GLP, GMP issues, controlled preparation, clean rooms

6. Implantable cell carriers and their colonization by cells, use for vascular prostheses

7. Animal experiments, preclinical testing of materials and carriers
