Synopsis:
Requirements:

Individual work of students based on interpretation spectral data examples of simple NMR spectra. Results will be evaluated by examination.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Principles of nuclear magnetic resonance. Magnetic properties of nuclei, resonance signal genesis, nuclear shielding and chemical shift, spin-spin interaction, relaxation mechanisms, NMR signal intensities.

2. NMR spectrometer - Basic components, types of construction, measurement techniques. Fourier transform Double resonance. Measurement of relaxation times. Solvent signal suppression.

3.Sample preparation, solvents, standards.

4. 1H-NMR techniques.

5. 13C-NMR techniques.

6. 15N, 18F, 31P, 2H, 3H and other measurement techniques.

7. Special NMR techniques. 2D-NMR (COSY, NOESY, TOCSY, HETCOR), solid-state NMR (MAS).

8. Interpretation of spectral data: 1H, 13C, 15N, 31P, special techniques 3H/2H

9. Interpretation and measurements of APT, DEPT, COESY, NOESY, TOCSY, HQMBC isotopic composition manifestations

10. Application of NMR.

Students learn about generation of NMR signal, magnetic parameters of nuclei, spin-spin interaction, interpretation of spectral data in NMR.

Acquired skills:

The emphasis is put on correct evaluation of NMR spectra and identification of compounds.
