Synopsis:

The subject Conversation in English language is primarily focused on the development of communication skills, both from the field of general English, and the field of Business English. Through the simulations of real situations, the students practise conversation phrases, relevant terminology and appropriate vocabulary. The emphasis is placed on the accuracy of communication skills and vocabulary expansion.

Assessment requirements:

1.Attendance ( absences up to 20 %, i.e. 3 absences per semester)

2.Basic knowledge verified by test, or oral examination during the lessons

3.Presentation on an agreed professional topic

Final assessment test –minimum: 60%

1.National stereotypes – prejudice, stereotypical behaviour.

2.Decisions – decisions making, dilemmas.

3.Meetings – opening the meeting, making your point, inviting people to speak.

4.Presentations – key phrases, body language, dealing with questions.

5.Honesty – telling lies, cheating, white lies.

6.Jobs – honesty at work, dirty jobs, career ladder.

7.Negotiations – proposals, reaching agreement, confrontation.

8.Negotiations – dealing with problems, agreements and contracts.

9.Responsibilities – criminal responsibility, coming of age.

10.Telephoning – giving and taking messages, checking information, making arrangements.
