Department of Indoor Enviromental and Building Services Engineering
Synopsis:

A course on technical building facilities focusing on a comprehensive view of the quality of the indoor environment in terms of its impact on health, work productivity, energy performance and the environment. An in-depth section focusing on the analysis and design of building energy systems that provide for the generation, transformation and distribution of energy in buildings to ensure thermal comfort in winter and an optimal indoor environment with minimal environmental impact. Practical application of the topics is carried out in the seminars.

Requirements:

Conditions of the exam

The examination for 125VPVA (Technical Equipment) is written and oral, subject to completion of the exercises (see below) and submission of a written study in the scope and content listed below.

The examination is then conducted in the form of an online Moodle test in room A233 with 10 questions arising from the topics of the course (this part contributes 50% to the final grade) and an oral part with a discussion of the study (this part contributes 50% to the final grade).

The examination for 125VPV (Building Construction) is written and oral, subject to the submission of a written study of the scope and content specified below.

The examination then takes the form of a written test with 10 questions arising from the topics covered in the course (this part contributes 50% to the final grade) and an oral part with a discussion of the study (this part contributes 50% to the final grade).

Study topic: Optimisation of the heating design of a building

Object: from SPB1, PJ2C, ATT, BP, residence, parents' house, etc.

Scope: max. 30 A4 pages + annexes

Due date: printed or from 16.12.22 electronically in Moodle in pdf/doc, no later than the day of the exam before the online test

Binding study outline:

Brief description of the building (purpose, location, primary energy sources, operating mode...)

Description of the most significant pollutants in selected (max 3) characteristic rooms of the considered building - temperature, humidity, odours, toxic substances, allergens, microorganisms, acoustics, light, radiation, psychology...

Overview of requirements for the indoor environment in selected (max 3) characteristic rooms (determination of required temperature, humidity, ventilation intensity, noise, lighting)

2 to 3 variants of the heating concept (source - distribution system - heat emissions) and their comparison (multi-criteria analysis e.g. in terms of operating costs, investment costs, overall efficiency, achieved indoor environmental quality, building intervention, etc.) Document the variants with a technical description and a schematic drawing 1:100 to 1:200. Selection of the most appropriate option.

Schematic diagram of the heat source for one, in your opinion, the most suitable variant

Details of the design of the characteristic and critical elements of the selected variant (e.g. fitting of heating elements, pipework, floor composition, pipe material and joints, location of elements, etc.)

Description of the operational control scheme and specification of the functional requirements of the control in relation to the heat source, operation and heat gains.
