Synopsis:

Students will learn the basic areas of applied chemistry, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and macromolecular chemistry in biomedical engineering.

Requirements:

Credit conditions:

Compulsory attendance at seminars, absence must be duly excused and replaced.

Write two written tests. In sum it is necessary to get 60% points.

Exam:

The exam consists of written and oral. The written part is specified test form, which contains the substance of lectures and exercises. The test must be written to at least 50%. After successfully written test followed by an oral examination. Mark is governed by the applicable scale.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to study chemistry, basic concepts, analytical chemistry, water and aqueous solutions, acids and bases, acid-base balance, hydrolysis

2. Structure of matter, classification of substances (chemical substances and mixtures), the structure of the atom (nucleus, electron shell), AO, MO

3. Periodic system, periodic table, periodic law, trends in the periodic table

4. Chemical bond non-bonding interactions, hydrogen bonding, chemical process, classification of chemical reactions, substitution, addition

5. Covalent substances, molecular substances, ionic substances. metals

6. Organic chemistry - the chemical reactions, hybridization, isomerism

7. Alkanes, alkenes, alkadienes, alkynes - nomenclature, chem. Reactions

8. Cyclic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons - nomenclature, chem. Reactions

9. A compound of hydrocarbons - nomenclature, chem. reactions

10. Carboxylic acids, diacids, functional derivatives of carboxylic acids.

11. Macromolecular substances

12. Terminology polymers (trivial and systematic)

13. Properties macromolecular substances

14. The chemical structure of macromolecular substances

1. Nomenclature of Inorganic Chemistry

2. periodic table, trends, builders principle laboratory calculations

3. Structure of the AO, MO, hybridization, energy conditions chem. reactions. - calculations

4. Organic chemistry- nomenclature, isomerism

5. Aliphatic, cyclic, aromatic hydrocarbons - nomenclature

6. Compounds of hydrocarbons - the carboxyl. acids and diacids

7. Properties of hydrocarbon derivatives, macromolecular nomenclature

Study Objective:

Acquiring knowledge in the field of general, inorganic, organic chemistry and polymer chemistry. Mastering the list in the nomenclature of organic compounds, macromolecules and natural substances. Get a brief overview about rules of chemical reactions and polymerization.
