The aim of the course is to give students an overview of the issues related to protection against ionizing radiation and dosimetry. Characteristics of basic types of ionizing radiation sources of ionizing radiation and its sources, interactions of Ionising radiation with matter, quantities and units used in dosimetry and radiation protection, detection of ionizing radiation and biological effects of ionizing radiation.)
- Requirements:

Successful completion of a written test with the chosen answers. The test will include a total of 20 questions. The evaluation according to the ECTS grading scale.

Classes on February 26, 2015 are cancelled. The compensatory date will be announced at the first lecture.
1.Introduction to radiation physics. Atomic structure.
2. Radioactivity
3. Types and properties and ionizing radiation.
4. Sources of ionizing radiation.
5. Interaction of ionizing radiation with matter.
6. Dosimetry of ionizing radiation.
7. Principles of ionizing radiation detection.
8. Biological effects of ionizing radiation.
9. Principles and objectives of radiation protection.
10. The use of ionizing radiation. Radiology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine
11. Workplace monitoring, personal monitoring, monitoring of releases and around the workplace, emergency monitoring.
12. (Ionizing radiation in the environment. Radiation burden of people from natural and artificial sources, radiation accidents.
13.Ionizing radiation and legislation of the Czech Republic.
