Synopsis:

The purpose of the course is to give the student knowledge about different types of electrical drives for mechatronic systems and their practical use. Method for electromagnetic field approximative solution. The theory of linear and rotating drivers. Electromagnets supplied by AC and DC power. Static and dynamics parameters of electromagnets. Drives for rotating motion. DC motors. Mathematical description of their static and dynamic properties. Principle and function of stepper motor. AC induction motors. Mathematical description of their static and dynamic properties. Using MATLAB for drivers behaviour modelling.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1.Magnetic circuit, reluctance, permeance, Hopkinson's law. Method for magnetif field solution

2.Forces effect of magnetic field. Motion electromagnets supplied by DC and AC power

3.Stepper motors. Principle, basic parameters

4.DC motors. Static and dynamic model. Motor with shunt and separate excitation. Torque diagram. Characteristic parameters, using

5.Induction motor. Theory of magnetic rotating field. Substitution of the three phase system with two phase system. Transformation of coordinates

6.Equivalent diagram of induction motor. Mathematic model od static and dynamic behaviour of induction motor

7.Basic circuits for electrical drives supply. H-bridge, controlled rectifier, chopper

Syllabus of tutorials:

1.Computation of magnetic field distribution and verify the results by measurement

2.Calculation of electromagnet force and verify the results by measurement

3.Parameters identification of DC machine and establishing the model.

4.Measurement of dynamic behaviour of DC motor and comparing with the real machine model.

5.Measurement of parameters of stepper motor with passive and active rotor. Compare with catalogue data

6.Parameters identification of induction motor, establishing model

7. Measurement of dynamic behaviour of induction motor and comparing with the real machine model.
