Synopsis:

Basic properties of X-rays are overwied and the history of X-ray discovery is presented. Main attention is paid to soft X-rays, methods of generation, detection and applications. Primery influence of X-rays on biological objects is discussed and exploitation in the molecular biology research is presented

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1.X- rays - electromagnetic radiation and ionizing radiation

2.History of X-ray discovery, X-ray (roentgen) tube, X-ray interaction with matter. Principles of detection.

3.Radiometry and dosimetry

4.Methods of generation of soft X-rays. Synchotron. Laser plasma as high brightness source. X-ray lasers, X=rays from cosmic space

5.X-ray optics. Grazing incidence mirror. Zone plates

6.Exploitation of X-rays. Sciagraphy. Microscopy. Microanalysis.

7.Lithography in production of VLSI electronic componencts.

8.Immaging of biological objects

9.X-ray fluorescent analysis

10.Primary effects of X-rays on biological objects at molecular level

11.Topic research of X-rays application in molecular biology.
