Synopsis:

The course is intended to be a concise introduction to modern / nonclassical physics for students who have already had basic classical physics course. A part of the course is delivered in a computational laboratory.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction: Concepts of modern physics.

2. Special and General relativity.

3. Wave, Particles and Quanta.

4. Structure of atoms.

5. Quantum theory of atoms.

6. Physics of atomic nuclei.

7. Nuclear energy and radiation.

8. Plasma and thermonuclear fusion.

9. Elementary particles and astrophysics.

10. Nanophysics and nanotechnology.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Computers and modern physics.

2. Physics of extreme systems.

Study Objective:

Knowledge: Basic overview of modern physics.

Skills: Application of computers in the problems of modern physics.
