Synopsis:

Mechanical characteristics of bones. Biomechanics of the big human joints - statics, kinematics, dynamics. Tribology of the big human joints. Biomechanics of artificial joint replacements. Tribology of joint replacements. Materials used for the production of artificial joint replacements. Replacement designing variations of elbow, hip and knee joints. Cemented and non-cemented types of joints replacements. Living tissue reactions on metal implants. Quality requirements on artificial joint replacements. Factors influencing the joint replacement live-time.

Requirements:

Elementary courses of mechanics, elasticity and strenght of materials, Mathematics I, II. elemental courses of biomechanics.

3.Shoulder (glenohumeral) joint,

4.Elbow join

5.Biomechanics of the hand joints

6.Force exactness in the hip (cox) joint

7.Biomechanics of the knee (tibiofemoral) joint

8.Foot joints

9.History of the alloplasty

10.Artificial replacements of the elbow and ankle (talocrural) joints

11.Problems of artificial replacements

basic requirement, materials, tribology, reaction of materials with the living tissue, lifetime of artificial joint replacements

Syllabus of tutorials:

Present problems of artificial replacements of the human skeleton, problems of design and production of bio-implants, biomechanics of hard and soft tissues.
