Synopsis:

Subject gives knowledge about basics of instruments design in order student would be able to design different kinds of mechanical instruments.

Requirements:

Knowledge of lecture´s matter, Presence on practices.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction course, the performance of the instrumentation, the concepts of accuracy, sensitivity of the device, Abbe principle, static and dynamic properties of instruments.

2. Overview of construction materials, metals, non-metals, natural materials, special materials and its properties.

3. List of connection methods - detachable, conditionally detachable and permanent joints.

4. Direct linear guides, rolling guides, approximate guides, parallel guides.

5. Rotary supports, sliding bearings, rolling bearings, special storage instrumentation, minimizing of passive resistance.

6. Overview of connectors and their use.

7 Involute and cycloidal gears, timepieces and hypoidal gears. Micrometer screws.

8. Toothed gear and friction mechanisms. Lever transmission mechanisms. Brakes.

9. Compensation, rectifying and locking devices. Stops. Gates, Cams.

10. Scales and their use in devices. Modular structural elements in the instrument technique.

11. Functions of the human eye and implications for the design of instruments.

12. Overview of the functions and structure of basic optomechanical instruments.

13. Review of laboratory and workshop equipment and their construction.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Solution of examples and a review of design parts.

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic elements and design approach in instrumentation so that the listeners were able to independently design different types of mechanical devices.
