- Grading of the course requires grading of the following courses:
- Water Management Engineering (140VIN)
- Lecturer:
- Tutor:
- Supervisor:
- Department of Hydrotechnics
- Synopsis:
-
The subject is focused to hazards and risks during the operation of hydraulic structures in the connection to operation and water management rules. Students get further acquainted with the analysis of the impact of breakdown situations of water management structures to planed services. Possibilities of risk analysis and risk management are as well discussed.
- Requirements:
-
no prerequisities
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
sources of uncertainties in water management, multipurpose hydraulic structures (HS), abstraction and description of HS, impacts to function of HS, risks from breakdowns of the function of HS, risks types, quantification of risk, risk management, multi criteria evaluation of solutions - risk analysis application
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
description of HS, quantification of purposes of HS, operational hazards, reliability of elements of HS and risks, loss curves, potential losses, possibilities of risk management, efficiency and pay back period of the investment to the safety of HS
- Study Objective:
-
The goal of the study is to understand the procedure of the analysis of breakdown situations at hydraulic structures and quantification of breakdowns to function of the water management structure. The second goal is the application of risk analysis to selected examples to understand the practical results for operation of hydraulic structures.
