Basic properties of the building materials and methods for their determination. Mechanical properties (strength, Young modulus, elasticity), thermal properties (thermal conductivity, thermal capacity), durability, frost resistance. Testing methods for the different materials (concrete, mortar, steel, plastics, asphalt, wood).

Deep knowledge and understanding of the basic properties of the building materials, which are important for using of the material in the building. Ability to chose, according this knowledge, the sutable material for each technical problem. Ability to perform experimental testing for the different types of material.
