- Synopsis:
-
On the basis of internal structure and nature of intraction elastic material behavior and its maximum strength is explained. The model is further developed by considering different types of defects, loads and environment for explanation of failure mechanisms - the level of real strength determined by internal defects, and tvárnému brittle fracture, fatigue and creep. Failures are discussed as a challenge posed to design of novel materials.
- Requirements:
-
basic knowledge of materials and mechanics
- Syllabus of lectures:
- Syllabus of tutorials:
- Study Objective:
-
The main goal of the course is to present microstructural explanation of materials' properties and degradation processes. After the course, students should be able to assess possible hazards of engineering structure failure or damage based on the knowledge acting loads and external conditions and major failure mechanisms.
