Governing equations of linear elasticity and minimum energy principles, volume averaging, elastic response of compositematerials, estimates of effective properties, solution of the elipsoidal inclusion problem, simply averaging methods: Mori-Tanaka, Self-consistent method, etc., analysis of laminated plates

Students will be introduced to various classical as well as novel approaches currently available for the modeling of composite materials.
