- Synopsis:
-
The subject of the study is the problems of the operation of hydraulic structures - weirs, dams, navigation structures and hydropower plants. Students get further acquainted with law and technical requirements to trial operation and consequent safe long term operation.
- Requirements:
-
no prerequisities
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
definition of hydraulic structure, water law, specification of the operation of hydraulic structures (operation manuals), behaviour of hydraulic structure and theirs parts, monitoring of hydraulic structures (monitoring at catchment area, reservoir monitoring, monitoring of the structure, downstream monitoring), extreme situations at hydraulic structures (flood, drought, winter conditions), breakdowns of hydraulic structures (civil and technological parts)
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
analysis, technical description and the design of structural parts of the hydraulic structure (hydraulic scheme with water supply purpose and hydropower plant); analysis of potential breakdowns of hydraulic scheme; design of the monitoring system of hydraulic scheme; analysis of boundary values for early warning systems; dynamic load of ice
- Study Objective:
-
The goal of the study is to learn the structural analysis of hydraulic structures as technical systems which must be operated safely for a long time (using data from specific monitoring systems). The second goal is to inform students about the law background which is important as the frame for operation regulations.
