Solid state physics is very wide line of physics with many application, topics of lectures: structure of solid states, bindings, mechanical properties, specific heat, electrical properties, superconductivity, bands theory, physics of semiconductors, optical properties of solid states, luminescence, liquid crystals, application at biomedical engineering

Requirements:

Assessment: active participation on solution excercises.

Examination: assessment, knowledge covering the extent of the course.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Structure of solid state.

2. Methods - structure of solid state.

3. Bindings.

4. Mechanical properties.

5. Specific heat.

6. Electrical properties.

7. Superconductivity.

8. Bands theory.

9. Dielectrics.

10. Physics of semiconductors.

11. Luminiscence.

12. Liquid crystals.

13. Application at biomedical engineering.

14. Materials for biomedical engineering.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Solving of selected characteristic problems of theory of solid state and physics of condensed state: 1. Vibrations of atoms in crystal lattice and its thermal properties, 2. Schrödinger equation for solid state, 3. Phonons, 4. Electrons in periodical potential, 5. Interactions between solid state and external electromagnetic waves, 6. Calculations of optical parameters, 7. Reaction of semiconductor PN junction to external electromagnetic wave.

Study Objective:

To create idea of complex view for problems of solid state physics, classical physics + quantum physics + statistical physics
