- Synopsis:

The subject provides a brief, clear and integral outline of medical disciplines, particularly internal medicine. The target is to acquaint students with basic diseases, with primary and secondary prevention of internal diseases and with their diagnostics and define terms associated with the consideration of the patient health condition.
The student should be able to compare and differentiate from each other methods of health examination, describe the procedure for basic clinical examination and understand its principle and importance. He/she is supposed to have knowledge of approaches to and methods of monitoring the patient health condition.
- Requirements:

credit: 2 presentations on practical exercises on the topic of appointing a senior seminars ((one will be focused on modern instrumentation and one on the news in the industry). Presentation of the format of lectures with the possibility of using power-point length from 10 to 15 minutes followed by discussion in which a student must be able to substantiate the facts stated in the communication. prerequisites is that one or both of the communication is not classified a sign of F. the average rating from both exercises will be part of the final mark of the examination.
test:
in the range of oral literature and reference substances odpřednášené in lectures (examination questions and a mirror attached and are also available on the website of the Department). Student draws two questions. The final mark is a sign of exercise and the knowledge of the two winning questions. Ignorance is one reason to question qualification exam degrees F.

- Syllabus of lectures:

1st week - The cardiovascular system I (congenital and acquired heart defects, inflammations, heart weakness, acute lung oedema, coronary artery disease, acute myocardium infarction)
2nd week - The cardiovascular system II (heart rhythm disorders, hypertension, hypotension, diseases of the aorta, arteries and veins)
3rd week - Imaging techniques I (skiascopy, skiagraphy, tomography, contrast media, dynamic examinations)
4th week - Imaging techniques II (principles of examination in nuclear medicine, static and dynamic examinations, SPECT, PET)
5th week - Basic pneumology (inflammation, chronic bronchopulmonary disease, asthma bronchiale, lung fibrosis, respiratory insufficiency, tumours of the bronchi and lung, pneumothorax)
6th week - Basic nephrology (main renal syndromes, diseases of glomerules, interstitial nephritis, nephrolithiasis, urolithiasis, tumours of the kidneys and urinary tract, acute and chronic renal failure, dialysis and transplantation treatment)
7th week - Haematology I (diseases of erythrocytes and leukocytes, haematological malignant diseases)
8th week - Haematology II (control of haemostasis, blood coagulation disorders, thrombocyte function disorders, basic theory of transfusions, blood groups)
9th week - Metabolism disorders, obesity (metabolism of ions, osmolality, acidobasic equilibrium, lipid metabolism disorders, obesity as a disease)
10th week - Sudden abdominal events (manifestations, first aid, diagnostics, therapy, convalescence)
11th week - Injuries (classification of injuries in surgical practice, causes, first aid, surgical solution, complications)
12th week - Basic gastroenterology I (inflammatory and cancer diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, disorders of the motility and absorption)
13th week - Basic gastroenterology II (inflammatory and cancer diseases of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas)
14th week - Diabetes mellitus (types of disorders, type I and type II diabetes, acute and chronic complications of diabetes, treatment of the disease, diet provisions)

- Syllabus of tutorials:

1st week - Examination methods in cardiology, intensive care unit (outline of diagnostic methods employed in cardiology, their contribution to the diagnosis, ECG, phonography, equipment at the intensive care unit)
2nd week - Taking care of elderly patients (gerontology as an independent discipline, pathological physiology at old age, special features of diseases, attitudes to elderly persons)
3rd week - Imaging techniques (analysis of particular imaging techniques by suitable indications, benefits expected)
4th week - Tuberculosis (etiology, manifestations, types, screening of the disease, diagnostics, subsequent care)
5th week - Internal environment (metabolic and respiratory alkalosis and acidosis, causes, diagnostics, compensation)
6th week - Diseases of adrenal glands (the hypophysis, thyroid, parathyroids, adrenal glands)
7th week - Basic osteology (bone metabolism, densitometry, osteoporosis prevention)
8th week - Infectious diseases (sources of infectious diseases, routes of the infection transfer, forms of infectious diseases, bacterial, viral, mycotic and parasitic infections, nosocomial infections)
9th week - Symptoms and syndromes (unconsciousness, cyanosis, pain, dyspnoea, cough and expectoration, haemorrhage, fever, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, oedema)
10th week - Taking care of patients with involvements of the locomotor apparatus (diagnostic methods in locomotor apparatus involvements, types of involvements, physical and therapeutic-rehabilitation care)
11th week - Damage to the organism based on physical disorders (hyperthermia, hypothermia, injury with the electrical current, electromagnetic field, drowning and near drowning, effects of the atmospheric pressure)
12th week - Basic toxicology (acute and chronic poisonings, routes of the toxic substance entrance into the organism, metabolism of toxic substances, their elimination, first aid in intoxication)
13th week - Pre-medical aid in injuries (first aid depending on the injury type, principles of the prevention, providing the transfer, mass disasters)
14th week - Repeating, varia, credit
The scope of exercises:
control of knowledge of still presented lectures (oral or written)
assays concerning the given problems
discussion of the relationship between clinical and pathological findings of systems concerned
note - the order of practical exercises can be varied depending on the order of lectures; the students will be timely informed about the changes

The main aim of this subject is to provide an integrative explanation of the fundamentals of therapeutic methods applied in health care in consideration of the rest processes.
