Synopsis:

Student will be familiarized with the content of harmful agents in buildings and the solutions of their liquidation.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Constituents of indoor microclimate, health effects. Protection of new

houses against radon from the soil.

2. Protection of existing houses against radon and gamma radiation.

3. Microbial microclimate - moulds, bacteria, yeasts, mites, fungi and

microbes.

4. Microbial microclimate - moulds, bacteria, yeasts, mites, fungi and

microbes.

5. Toxic microclimate - toxic fumes (phthalate, vinyl chloride,

formaldehyde, styrene, phenol, etc.) released from plastics, composites,

adhesives, paints, detergents, wood preservatives - insecticides,

fungicides, etc.) and other materials.

6. Man made mineral fibres - respirable fibres (asbestos, rock, glass and

mineral fibres).

7. Heavy metals (chromium, lead, mercury, cadmium), noise and vibrations,

electromagnetic field.
