Synopsis:

The subject of the study is the design dam structures and partly the design of technological elements. Students get further acquainted with questions and problems of dam operation and with the influence of dam operation to the preparation of the design of dam repair and rehabilitation.

Syllabus of lectures:

design data, loads, dam foundations, static and structural systems of dams, dam facility and accessory, dam operation, repair and rehabilitation of dams

Syllabus of tutorials:

hydrological data analysis, design of the cross section, plan design of the dam and the accessory, analysis of the static ice load, analysis of the wave load, static analysis of the gravity dam, calculation of the free water surface inside a earth fill dam, calculation and design of emergency spillway, calculation and design of bottom outlet, design of water diversion along the construction site

Study Objective:

The goal of the study is to learn the design (under different load conditions) of dams and theirs parts taking technical standards and recommendations into account. The second goal is to inform students about the procedure of the design and performance of dam repair and rehabilitation (including dam facility and accessory)
