Synopsis:

Introduction to indicial notation, governing equations of linear elasticity and minimum energy principles, transformation of constitutive equations, elementary theory of overall moduli, engineering approach to the evaluation of overall moduli, introduction to classical averaging schemes including the Self consistent and Mori-Tanaka method with application to both two-phase and porous material systems, introduction to the analysis of periodic systems. formulation of the periodic unit cell.
