Transport - classification, territorial aspect, transportation problem. Road classification, transportation network. Design categories of roads, traffic stream characteristics. Design of the roads layout and longitudinal section, route space effect. Design of the road earthwork, drainage of the roads. Pavements. Environmental impact, traffic calm down, crossings.Rail transport and its advantages and disadvantages. Railway track and tram track construction. Noise and anti-noise measures.

The student will gain an overview in the field of transport differentiation and categorization and impact of traffic on environment. He will familiarize with the principles of road and railway design, including the dimensioning of structures, road (urban roads) type specifications. The aim is also to make students acquainted with the main characteristics of rail transport with a view to design and solutions in urban areas.
