Synopsis:

Approaches to site conditions description,

laboratory and field testing methods to determine input data

for soil and rock behaviour characterization, geotechnical

model of the site, brief introduction to constitutive relations

for geomaterials and testing methods applications, verification

by site monitoring and principles of displacements, stresses

and loads measurement in subsoil and structure.

1. Problems: description, analysis, computation, assessment, verification

2. Description of site conditions - approaches and data sources

3. Geotechnical site model and boundary conditions

4. Brief introduction to constitutive relations for geomaterials and testing methods

5. Site investigation and testing

6. Compressibility - soil and rock data by laboratory testing

7. Compressibility - soil and rock data by field testing

8. Shear strength - soil and rock data by laboratory testing

9. Shear strength - soil and rock data by field testing

10. Methods of computation, feedback and principles of verification

11. Introduction to site monitoring: why, what and how?

12. Monitoring of soil and rock deformation

13. Stress monitoring in geotechnics

14. Basics of monitoring system design, data evaluation and performance assessment

Study Objective:

Acquaintance with possibilities of gathering of input data for setting up geotechnical site model, selected constitutive relationships and verification of assumptions by site monitoring.
