Synopsis:

The main attention is paid to detailed analysis of economic terms and connections and to practical application of gained knowledge. In the microeconomic part we analyse the theory of consumers, consumer?s equilibrium, substitutional and income effect of price changes. In the theory of the firm we analyse costs, income and firm equilibrium in a long and short period in various market structures. Moreover we analyse externalities and public goods, markets of factors of production and theory of global equilibrium. Macroeconmic part is dedicated to the differences between classical nad Keynes analysis of macroeconomic connections. Attention is paid to calculations of efficiency of the economy, the economic growth, problems of business cycle, international relations, analysis of the inflation and unemployment, and to the basic terms of the economic policy.

Study Objective:

Students should be able to apply their knowledge, to calculate consumer equilibrium, conditions for maximization of the firm?s profits in a long and short period, to analyse costs and elasticity of demand. In the macroeconomic part they gain knowledge which will allow them to calculate basic macroeconomic aggregates, the inflation rate and equilibrium output in classical and Keynes equilibrium models.
