The course buils upon 04FZ2. Basic linguistic knowledge and skills are developed. The contents is given by lessons 14 - 18 of the textbook: Pravda - Pravdová: French for Beginners. Topics, functions and situations are complemented from other materials. Stress is put on oral communication in dialogues and on reading , both for information and loud as part of pronunciation practice. Reading covers short adapted texts of general interest first, and later popular science texts.

Functions, situations, topics: family, job, description of a city, town, place, means of transport, comparison, stressing a part of speech, travelling, information about time (month, year, date), frehcn culture, museums, painting.
Grammar structures: irregular verbs and their tenses and forms,interrogative pronouns, abbreviation of object subordinate clauses, conditional, adverbs and their position,grading adjectives and adverbs, adverbial y -

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus mentioned above.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexis and orthography at the level appropriate to the course,
i.e., elementary. Vocabulary is expanded by the topic of studies at technical university. Grammar structures include irregular verbs, adverbs, adjectives, comparison and peronal pronouns. Pronunciation and orthography are developed in connection with new grammar and vocab.
Skills:
Application of acquired knowledge in everyday communication and in more professional context, both in speaking and writing. Oral communication in everyday situations and on chosen topic, some of them subtechnical or popular science. Reading of adapted or simpler texts with a dictionary. Writing answers, messages, personal letter, essay.
Meeting the requirements for advance to a higher level course.
