04FP3 0 + 2 z, 1 credit
The course is focused on summarizing and further development of linguistic competence acquired during the whole period.Text interpretation. Translation of shorter technical texts (both from and into the language). Students prepare a paper wich will be delivered in form of an oral presentation in-class. The paper is linked to the field of students´future specialisation or to their interest and must cover a technical /applied scientific topic. It is not a translation but a creative work compiled from French articles and one´s own knowledge/experience.
Longer monologues on topics /situations set for the examination are also prepared.

General topics: From the history of technical and scientific projects and discoveries
Grammar structures: groups of irregular verbs according to the same pattern,review of past tenses, prepositions and verb forms in subordinate clauses, reported speech, indirect question, structures verb + prep+ noun, verb + prep + verb in cases different from the Czech

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of morphology, syntax, and lexis at the level appropriate to the course, namely: types of clauses, participle
sentences, indirect speech and question, verbal phrase, punctuation, irregularities.
Skills:
Reading of authentic general, poplular science and technical texts, extracting information, summarizing. Correct oral communication in social and everyday situations, communication on specific / technical topics. Writing a presentation and transactional letters. Translation of shorter texts (both ways). Use of larger and more accurate vocabulary, idioms and varied grammar structures. Care of the style and spelling.
