The course develops the students skills in working with professional scientific texts (understanding, summary, note taking, retelling) extending their general and specific vocabulary. It introduces topics such as mathematical expressions, or nuclear power engineering. Moreover, the students are trained in formal communication, both written and oral (CV, letter of application, interview), and more complex grammatical structures.

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus mentioned above.
- Study Objective:

Knowledge:
Knowledge of morphology, syntax, and lexis at the level appropriate to the course, particularly subjunctives, infinitive phrases, expessing purpose, reported speech; terms in mathematics, the environment and its protection, nuclear power engineering, transport, services, and labour market.
Skills:
To use the acquired knowledge in everyday communication and in more professional contexts both in speaking and writing, namely to read, retell, and summarise a more professional text, compose a short communication based on given facts and figures, explain and defend an opinion on a topic; write a CV, letter of application, and personal statement, use adequate language in an interview.
