The 04AM2 course expects the student to have completed the 04AM1 course. It develops their skills for work with subtechnical texts, focusing also more on specific grammar, functions, and lexical items typical of ESP and EAP (e.g., definition, graph descriptions, object descriptions).
Part of the course is also guided writing. If necessary, grammar revision is included.

- Syllabus of lectures:

Definitions and classification, graphs, descriptions - shape, dimensions, location. Prepositional phrases, clauses, linking words. Translations into Czech.

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus mentioned above.

Knowledge:
Morphology, syntax, and lexis at the level appropriate to the course, namely: prepositional phrases, subordinate clauses, compound sentences, expressing cause and effect, extended formal vocabulary, extended more professional vocabulary, basic terms in physics and chemistry.
Skills:
To apply the acquired knowledge in everyday communication and in more professional contexts both in speaking and writing: to define and classify objects, phenomena and processes, distinguish formal and informal language structures, read a technical text, translate a passage into Czech.
To qualify for admission to the higher level course.
