Synopsis:

The course is focused on fundamental theory and applications of geometric and wave optics. Basic properties of optical radiation. Sources and detectors of optical radiation. Fundamentals of radiometry and photometry. Fundamentals of geometrical optics. Parameters and design of optical elements and systems. Aberrations of optical systems. Fundamentals of wave optics. Interference, diffraction, and polarization of light. Optical instruments and their parameters. Optical instruments and methods for biomedicine.

Requirements:

70% attendance (seminars, laboratories)

Assessment: classified seminary work

Study Objective:

Students will learn fundamentals of geometrical and wave optics, which helps them to understand better applications of optical methods and effects in various instruments in science, engineering, and biomedicine.
