Synopsis:

Scope of the subject

The subject provides a brief, clear and integral concept of medical branches, particularly internal medicine. The purpose of the subject is to acquaint the student with basic diseases, with primary and secondary prevention of internal diseases and to define terms associated with the patient health condition consideration.

The student should be able to compare and differentiate from each other methods of health examination, described procedures for the basic clinical examination and understand its principle and importance. He/she is supposed to know methods of monitoring the patient health condition.

Requirements:

credit: 2 presentations on practical exercises on the subject for leading seminars. The presentation will be in the form of lectures with the possibility of using power-point length from 10 to 15 minutes followed by discussion in which students must be able to substantiate the facts stated in the communication. Credit condition is that neither of the two communication will not be classified trademark F. Average mark from both exercises will be part of the final mark of the examination.

test: a test form in the range of literature and reference substances odpřednášené lecture focusing on physical examination alone, knowledge of history, indications, principles and suitability of the instrumentation used in the fields of internal medicine (cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, Pneumology), in sports medicine, medical laboratories, in surgery, in obstetrics, in obstetrics, rehabilitation medicine, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology. The minimum number of points for the quiz is 16 points from 30 possible. The test contains 30 questions with three possible answers (the number of correct answers from zero to three).

A - 29 - 30 points

B - 26 - 28 points

C - 23 - 25 points

D - 20 - 22 points

E - 16 - 19 points

F <16 points

The resulting mark is an average mark of seminars and presentations on the test. Classification of F from one part of the reason for the overall classification of F grades.

note: the interval between regular and repeat the test or corrective tests from the test must be at least seven days.

Syllabus of lectures:

Clinical propaedeutic I (relationships between healthcare professionals and patients, method of the communication with patients, importance of the anamnesis, methods of establishing the anamnesis)

Clinical propaedeutic II (the attitude to patients, basic physical examinations)

Instrumental techniques in laboratories, organization of work in laboratories (biochemical, haematological, immunological and bacteriological laboratories; obligatory documentation)

The dialysis unit (history, development, principle and indication of the dialysis, dialysis instruments, perspectives)

Endoscopy (the principles of endoscopic examinations, indications for use, instrumental technique, taking care of instruments)

Diagnostic sonography (physical principle of sonographic imaging, instrumental techniques used in medicine, suitable indications, diagnostic yield)

Laparoscopy (historical development, principle, instrumental technique, diagnostic and therapeutic use)

8th week - Organization of work at operating theatre principles, surgical set, logistics of surgical tools, instrumental equipment)

Instrumental techniques in cardiology (outline of examinations employed in diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases, suitable indications, their contribution to the subsequent therapeutic procedure)

Instrumental techniques in sport medicine (outline of functional examinations employed in sport medicine, contemporary diagnostic techniques)

Instrumental techniques in gynaecology and obstetrics (diagnostic and therapeutic procedures employed in gynaecology and obstetrics, outline of diagnostic and instrumental techniques, indications for use, diagnostic and therapeutic yield)

Instrumental techniques in ophthalmology (diagnostic and therapeutic procedures employed in ophthalmology, outline of diagnostic and instrumental techniques, indications for use, diagnostic and therapeutic yield)

Instrumental techniques in otorhinolaryngology (diagnostic and therapeutic procedures employed in otorhinolaryngology, outline of diagnostic and instrumental techniques, indications for use, diagnostic and therapeutic yield)

Physical principles of the use of instrumental techniques in physiotherapy (electrotherapy, thermotherapy, mechanotherapy, hydrotherapy, phototherapy, radiotherapy)

Note - the order of lectures can be varied; the students will be timely informed about these changes

Syllabus of tutorials:

Medical documentation (case report, documentation in hospital, applications for laboratory examinations, types of laboratory examinations, applications for further types of examinations and subsequent treatment, method of management, safety, protection)

Principles of work with biological material (principles of taking samples, handling with biological material, handling with used sampled material, liquidation of infectious material, sampling systems)

Aseptic and antiseptic principles, types of sterilization, disinfection

Rules of interviews with patients. Exercise in establishing the anamnesis, analysis of knowledge acquired

Physical examination of patients I (attitude to patients, contact with patients, methodology of in their examination, suitable background, physical examination by inspection, palpation, auscultation, preliminary neurological examination, indirect measurement of the blood pressure)

Physical examination of patients II (attitude to patients, contact with patients, methodology of their examination, suitable background, physical examination by inspection, palpation, auscultation, preliminary neurological examination, indirect measurement of the blood pressure)

Surgical consumables and instruments (distribution, principles of storing, principles of taking care of surgical tools, principles of economic handling)

Basic surgical interventions (punctions, drainages, drains, cannulation, cannulas)

Principles of taking care of endoscopic instruments

Types of medical facilities (acute hospital care, ambulatory care, subsequent care, rehabilitation institutes, rehabilitation departments)

Principles of catering in healthcare institutions (types of diets, organization of catering, nutritional therapy)

Principles of taking care of pregnant women (prenatal units,medical examinations, preparation to delivery, physical exercise in pregnancy, participation of the father)

Spa care (classification of spas, principles and importance of balneology, indication list)

Repeating, varia, credit

The scope of exercises:

control of knowledge of the still presented themes (oral or written)

assays concerning the problems, note

order of practical exercises can be varied depending on the order of lectures; the students will be timely informed about the change
