Synopsis:

Content focuses on the application field in dealing with civil law, criminal-legal acts and incidents. In addition to the transfer of knowledge, emphasis is placed on practical examples of sampling, field processing and quality assurance.

Syllabus of lectures:

Definitions, basic molecular biology

Characterization of DNA in forensic genetics related field (quantity, quality, special features)

Biological traces and their preservation and processing

Crime scene investigation, provision of biological traces

Orientation and specific body fluids card

Polymorphic region and repetitive sequences on autosomes

Line markers on the Y-chromosome and mitochondrial DNA

Database processing the results of forensic genetic analysis

Statistical evaluation of the results of forensic genetic methods

Probative value of expert analysis of DNA - analysis of cases

Identification of victims of mass disasters and war conflicts through DNA analysis of skeletal material

DNA and legislation in the CR, certification, accreditation, quality assurance processes

The aim is to familiarize students with the basics of genetics, forensic science and related subjects.
