Overview of passive safety measures in vehicles and biomechanics of impact.
Design principles from the safety point of view, legislation. Strategies of accidents reduction. Injury biomechanics, mechanisms and severity of injuries. Correlation between external loadings and injury severity according to AIS. Crash-test dummies, design, biofidelity, sensitivity. Injury mechanisms, anatomy, injury criteria and tolerances of head, thorax and spine. Influence of restraint systems, especially safety belts, airbags, and child seats.
