Department of Nuclear Chemistry
Synopsis:

Exercise is focused to practical carrying out of various radioanalytical methods from determination of solubility constant over radiometric titrations to determination of various radionuclides in the environment. It also includes substoichiometric diulution analysis, radioimmunological, rentgenfluorescence, and neutron activation analyses.

Requirements:

1. Practical exercises in nuclear chemistry

2. Exam in Radioanalytical methods

3. Entrance test

Syllabus of lectures:
Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Solubility determination of insoluble compounds using radiactive indicators method.

2. Radiometric titration of magnesium based on precipitation reaction.

3. Substoichiometric isotope dilution analysis.

4. Radiochemical determination of 137Cs in surface waters

5. Emanometric determination of radium and radon

6. Neutron activation analysis with delay neutrons measurement

7. Radioimmunological analysis

8. Radiometric characterisation of a borehole in a rock pillar.

9. Application of XRF for the prospection of heavy metals including uranium in a rock pillar.

Study Objective:

The goal of the exercise is to give practical knowledge of basic radioanalytical methods and their principles and also competencies correctly and suitably use these methods.
