Globalisation as an economic phenomenon; the environment in which the global economy is developing; the impact of globalisation upon the European integration process and the Czech economic environment. Terminology, definitions, relationships in the global environment, a brief insight into the history of both the global and the European economic environments; the impact of the current global environment upon the development of Europe and the EU member states; the effect of globalisation and the single European market on the Czech economy; monitoring and evaluation of signals from the global environment; democracy and liberalism in the globalisation process; outlook into the future; tools for influencing the economic policy.

The goal is to explain what preceded the globalisation process, make the students familiar with the preconditions for development of globalisation, new trends and the latest developments in globalisation and the principles of sustainable development, explain the principles of the knowledge-based economy and the innovation policy and the necessity of mutual cooperation, as well as discuss the impacts of globalisation upon the European and national economic environments.
