Department of Environmental Engineering
Synopsis:

Fundamentals of the air pollution control with the accent to individual areas as emission and immission problems, determination of emissions by measurement and calculation, international bonds and global problems in air pollution control.

Requirements:

Following requirements are demanded: Atmosphere and fundamentals of air pollution control. Determination of air and flue gases density and humidity. Emission and immission of pollutants - present situation, trends, measuring. International bonds and global problems of air pollution.

Syllabus of lectures:

What is air pollution control. Composition of the atmospheric air and regions of the atmosphere. Fundamentals of the Czech clean air act and corresponding laws. Determination of the density and humidity of gases. Determination of mass emissions from sources of emissions. Unrepeated and continual emission measurement, data processing. Gravimetric, radiometric and photometric method of emission measurement of solid particles. Measuring of gaseous pollutants by analysers. Legislation in area of immission of pollutants. Air quality information system. Trends of emissions and pollution in the Czech Republic. Convention on long-range transboundary air pollution and individual protocols. Global problems.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Composition of the atmosphere. Categories of the problems in air pollution. Determination of emission mass flows by means of emission factors. Air and gas density and humidity. Principles of automatic analysers for emission and immission measurement.

Study Objective:

To get fundamental knowledge and skills in individual areas of air pollution control -legislation, international bonds, problems of emission and immissions in atmosphere, global problems as global warming and reduction of ozone layer.
