- Synopsis:

Acquaints students with general and special surgery, the operating process and the various types of surgical departments. It also includes some special topics in surgery and traumatology. The course is divided into two stages. In the first stage, attention is focused on general surgery issues as: - the basic principles of surgical treatment, the concepts of asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection, sterilization, comprehensive preoperative preparation, surgical technique, postoperative care, prevention and treatment of possible complications.

Knowledge of Latin terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. 90% attendance at seminars. Examination by written test.

Introduction to surgery, surgery of historical development, ethical issues in surgery.
Asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection and sterilization.
Science wounds, pathological physiology in surgery.
Infection in surgery.
Fundamentals of pathological physiology in surgery, catabolic, anabolic phase of SIRS, MODS.
Examination of patient with surgical disease and preparation for surgery.
Surgery, tactics and technology operations.
Postoperative care.
Postoperative complications.
Blood transfusion in surgery, indications, contraindications, technique execution.
Theory of injuries, causes of accidents, epidemiology, prevention of injuries.
Principles of war surgery.
Fundamentals of Surgical Oncology.

To acquaint students with general and special surgery, the operating process and the various types of surgical departments.
In another part of the course are also gradually discussed some specific issues relating to the current surgery and traumatology.
